Northern Black Forest, formerly world known as prince hotel (Furstenhotel), was first
built as Villa Waldlust in 1879. The main house was the first grand hotel of Freudenstadt,
the Black Forest hotel, which opened its doors in the year 1879, at the same time of the
opening of the railway. Ernst Luz junior enlarged the hotel to a grand hotel and it still
presents itself like this today.

The town Freudenstadt was heavily destroyed in the 2nd World War. But
the reconstruction in the postwar period according to the old plans was considered
perfect. Freudenstadt is a large district since 1988. The market place of Freudenstadt,
which counts about 20,000 residents at present, has an area of 216 x 219 meters and
thereby counts to the largest ones of Germany.
